This indeed stands true with regards to BMS College of Law which began its innings in 1963. The college was established by B.S. Narayan, donor trustee of BMSET under the aegis of B M Sreenivasaiah Educational Trust.
It is interesting to note that the Trust is named after a great visionary Dharmaprakasha Rajakaryaprasatha Sri B M Sreenivasaiah, it is the vision of this great personality that was instrumental in laying the foundation stone for the first private engineering college in Karnataka.
The name of B M Sreenivasaiah has reached all corners of Karnataka state, he occupies a prominent place in the history of Karnataka and is well-known as a philanthrophist and a visionary educationist. His services have attracted praises from various sections of the society at all times.
Saying goes that whatever deeds the noble personalities do have something good to offer to the society at large. The college began in a humble manner and gradually moved to become what it is today.
Great luminaries from the legal world – Justice M.N. Venkatachalaiah, former Chief Justice of India, Justice Rama Jois, former Chief Justice of Haryana and Punjab High Court, Justice S R Nayak, former Chief Justice of High Court of Chhattisgarh have served the institution in various capacities including as faculty members.
The courses offered here are BA LLB, BCom LLB and LLB. BA LLB and BCom LLB are of five year duration and LLB is of 3 year duration.
