Shri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research was established in 1985 by Shri Ramachandra Educational and Health Trust as a not-for-profit self-financing institution. It had its origin at Shri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute (SRMC & RI). In 1994, the government of India declared SRMC & RI as a Deemed University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
It has been graded as category 1 status by UGC in 2018 and has been placed at 33rd rank among all Universities in India by MHRD NIRF ranking 2019. NAAC has reaccredited SRMC & RI (DU) Grade A with a CGPA of 3.62 which is the highest to be awarded to a private medical Deemed University in India.B.Tech
